It has been a good semester and look forward to future endeavors in the business world. With my final post in the management blog I give this suggestion if you want to open up a restaurant or bar I suggest looking at real estate near an active military base. being stationed at one for a few years of my life I always noticed that the restaurants and bars were usually busy on an average basis. Also military service members have a secure paycheck so military areas are in a way recession proof because there is a big part of the region that has job security.

holiday shopping

hope everyone had a pleasant turkey day. after a long day i decided to go out with my wife and do some holiday shopping for our son at toys r us for thie midnight madness deals. standing in line for 2 hours was more then worth the money we saved and this year things were a lot more organized then tehy were last year. either they hired new management or they learned their lesson from last years mess. that was the only place i went but im sure others went late night shopping as well i hope you got what you wanted. from the trun outs and traffic that night i would say that stores did a good job advertising and selling so maybe the economey isnt looking to bad.

horses and candles

so it has been a while since my last blog but there hasn’t really been much going on just the elections and those god awful tv ads. anyway this weekend I went to the Equine affair out in west springfield. this is a huge thing that happens once a year in mass and mass is one of three states that this huge event comes to. so every horse business and every horse if there showing there selling everything from boots and cloths to feed and magazines. this event happens every year around veterans day i i suggest that you go even if you don’t have a horse the basketball hall of fame is out in springfield and the yankee candle factory is just a half hour north. so there is lots to do. speaking of the yankee candle factory and store that place is awesome. i had never been that before and my wife and i went after going to the equine affair with the intentions of just buying a few candles and after sniffing a various amount of scents we walked out with 16 candles. the store is awesome and i highly suggest going out to south deerfield to check it out.

pumpkinfest

so over the long weekend my family and I went to the franklin park zoo to see the pumpkin carvings. there was general admission and then there was a special admission which included a all you can eat bbq and early entry to the pumpkin trail. before the zoo opened to let people in there was a huge line and it was supposed to be separated into people that wanted to buy the bbq tickets and people that wanted to buy general tickets but the staff didn’t know what ticket booth was going to be selling which ticket. it was a slow to get in because there were soo many people but just one booth was selling tickets then once in the bbq food was luke warm at best some things were hot but the food was not the best and the buffet was poorly planned and organized. besides the poorly managed lines and bbq it was a cool thing to go see. if you do decide to go and check it out though i suggest getting there very early because when we got out the line was extremely long and there was an announcement that they had to suspend the ticket sales. so get there early

the race for office

Tim cahill has lost basicall everyone improtant helping his run his campaign for governer and only has a small percent of the voter support in mass. despite all of this he is still running and using taxpayer money so fuel his ads and campaign. to me this is unethical because it is a misuse of taxpayer money and he should withdraw instead of stealing votes and wasting money. what does everybody else think about it?

here is a commercial that I find amusing because this is what customer service is like with some companies. for example DELL they outsource their customer service unless you pay extra then you get to talk to someone in the U.S.

new class new blog, now instead of blogging about marketing I am blogging about management. I think there are great examples of management on HBO. two shows that i enjoy are Entourage and Hardknocks. one show gives a inside look on how the new york jets run their trainning camp, the cuts they have to make and how the players and mamagement prepares for games. the show entourage gives a look at hollywood and how life as a movie star, low level manager, and a high level manager all work. if you havent heard of these shows then you should check them out even if you dont have HBO entourage is on other cable channels.

ok well kfc isnt exactly the best food to eat healthwise but they have teamed up with the fight against breat cancer to sell buckets of chicken. i think it was every bucket 50 cents or a dollar gets donated and nation wide this campaign can end up raising a lot of money.
